ViaWest, a Denver company that operates a data center in Hillsboro, was acquired this week by Oak Hill Capital Partners. Terms weren't disclosed.ViaWest has 16 data centers in western states, including a facility in Hillsboro that's currently in the process of doubling its capacity to 40,000 square feet. That center has 15 to 20 employees, ViaWest marketing director Aaron Alwell tells me.
Founded in 1999, ViaWest provides data center hosting services to more than 1,300 business customers. Alwell said that Oak Hill's ownership provides the capital resources for ViaWest to expand.
Dallas, Las Vegas and Austin are the most likely candidates for initial growth, he said, but ViaWest would consider expanding in Oregon after that.
